Candle DippingThroughout the season, the Historic Village at Allaire offers Interpretive Programs and demonstrations depicting life in the early 19th Century. These demonstrations depict the social, domestic, cultural and industrial life as it would have been in the mid 1830's at the Howell Works Company, including demonstrations in household chores, fashion shows and Militia drills.

Visitors are invited to participate in helping with gardening, candle dipping, ink and dye making, soap making and laundry as well as join the Howell Works Militia Unit for drills, view 19th Fashion Shows or make authentic toys of the period to take home. The demonstrations are designed to give visitors a better understanding of the day to day life in the early 19th Century.

The program, begun during the 2005 Season, has become very popular among visitors, with demonstrations available on weekend days only from June through November. Join us at the Historic Village at Allaire and learn what daily life was like for your ancestors during our Interpretive demonstrations.
