Employment Opportunities at the Historic Village at Allaire

Presently, Allaire Village, Inc. is accepting applications for the 2008 Operating Season for the following  seasonal positions:

Historic Interpreters

InterpreterThank you for your interest in the interpretive position! Currently we are accepting applications for seasonal staff members for approximately 15 hours a week. During the busier season, which begins around September, these hours can increase if if the applicant is interested.

The village is open to the public Wed-Sun, 12-4pm. Memorial Day through Labor Day. It continues to be open on weekends throughout the fall and into the holiday season when we put on beautiful historic reenactments and provide school children with fun and educational tours. Allaire Village, Inc is also expanding its outreach programs to include traveling to site locations, hospitals, schools and nursing homes to put on historic productions. Programs such as these are still in the process of being created and will not be available yet, but may also facilitate additional hours in the future.

School TourCurrently we have 13 historic buildings nestled in beautiful Allaire State Park in Farmingdale New Jersey. We are primarily a volunteer organization with the goals of a steady staff to help us with our mission of bringing history alive to our many visitors. Currently the position pays between $7.25 - $7.50 an hour depending on craft or experience. Experience is not necessary and onsite training is always paid. Training continues until interpreters are comfortable speaking to the public by themselves, sometimes this is very quickly, others prefer to take their time. All costume and clothing is provided, and you always have the option of having your own if you choose to. We have many seamstresses willing to work with you to complete your perfect 1830s look!

* Hours may vary depending on the number of tours booked in a particular week during the tour season and the length of tours.  During the major event season, Interpreters may be required to work additional hours in setting up and breaking down events.
