Have you ever been chased through a graveyard at night by wandering spirits, seen a Kobold or been attacked by a werewolf? If not, we welcome you to begin your Halloween season with an eerie trip in time!
When the Halloween Hayride begins you will meet your spirit guides who will conduct you on a tour of the foreboding woods for a trip into the Historic Village at Allaire. As you travel through the haunted woods you will meet peculiar individuals and witness mysterious customs. Visitors to the woods have reported witnessing attacks by werewolves, encountering Banshees and being chased by the spirits of the iron workers, killed many years ago in a furnace accident, as they wander through the Lost Cemetery. At the bonfire in front of the Carriage House you will meet the Allaire Witches while a story teller weaves spooky tales of events from long ago. Your spirit guides will then direct you to James P. Allaire's Mansion where you may even encounter the ghost of Frances Allaire, Mr. Allaire's first wife or even Cousin Calicia.
As you wander the darkened streets of the Village, eerily lit by lantern light, be sure to make your trip to Historic Village complete by visiting the Carpenter and Blacksmith Shops. Beware though, it is said the ghostly Blacksmiths spend their evenings pounding out coffin nails while the Carpenters try to measure visitors for caskets. The General Store will be open for your shopping pleasure, featuring the Historic Village at Allaire Collectible Christmas Ornaments, and no Halloween celebration would be complete without a cup of hot mulled cider at the Howell Works Bakery, where refreshments will be available. There will be music of the period available for your enjoyment at the Allaire Village Chapel to complete your outing to the Historic Village at Allaire, making your Halloween visit a memorable one.
Hayrides depart every 15 minutes beginning at 6:00 PM with the last wagon leaving at 9:30 PM. Tickets are limited to 1000 per night and advance purchase is recommended. Due to the popularity of this event we suggest you purchase your tickets early. Tickets may be purchased by phone by calling the Village Office at (732) 919-3500. Please have your credit card ready. Tickets are not mailed in advance. They can only be picked up at the all purpose Reception Building located at the Village Entrance on the night of the event. All ticket sales are final. Contact the office for information on group rates. |
