Volunteers Needed

VolunteerAllaire Village, Inc. has been primarily a volunteer organization since its founding over 50 years ago. It requires many volunteers to operate the Historic Village at Allaire. This includes not only the historic interpreters and docents visitors meet in the homes and on the streets of the Howell Works Company property but volunteers who work behind the scenes as well. If you enjoy history and meeting people, and perhaps have a flair for theater, then you might enjoy becoming one of our Historic Interpreters. Perhaps you have a flair for sewing and would like to volunteer in our Costume department, or join our researchers as they delve into history researching everything from the Howell Works to the Allaire Family to customs and life in an early 19th Century Company Town. What ever your preference, we can not present the programs we do without your help.

Allaire Village Continues Traveling Program

Travelling programAs part of the Outreach Program, Allaire Village, Inc developed a Traveling program during the 2007 and, due to its success, is continuing the program in the 2008 season. Costumed interpreters and docents travel to off site locations, such as schools, libraries and organization, and present interactive programs on any number of subjects based on early 19th century Life. The program can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the group being visited, such as The Role of Women in the 19th Century or a 19th Century Christmas program.

Scouts favorite Park is Site of Project

HOWELL — Tim Johnson of Howell decided he would look to improve the state of affairs at his favorite park when it came time to pick a Boy Scout Eagle Scout service project.

"I've been coming to this park forever," the 17-year-old said of the Historic Village at Allaire in Wall. "I just thought it would be nice to give back."
